A Relaxing 3-Day Winter Trip to Sokcho with a Toddler

속초는 한국의 아름다운 바다와 산을 함께 즐길 수 있는 곳이에요. 사계절 내내 멋진 풍경을 자랑하고, 맛있는 음식도 많아서 여행하기 좋아요. 이번 겨울, 두 돌이 된 우리 아기와 함께 속초로 여행을 다녀왔어요. 아기와 함께하는 여행이라 바쁘게 움직이기보다는 천천히 여유롭게 즐겼어요. 속초는 저희처럼 아이와 함께하는 가족들에게 특히 추천하고 싶은 곳이에요.

Sokcho is a beautiful place in Korea where you can enjoy both the ocean and the mountains. It’s stunning all year round and is famous for its delicious food, making it a perfect travel destination. This winter, I took a trip to Sokcho with my two-year-old toddler and husband. Since we were traveling with a little one, we decided to take things slow and enjoy a more relaxing trip. Sokcho is definitely a place I’d recommend for families with kids!

첫째 날: 속초의 대표 맛집과 아름다운 바다 풍경

Day 1: Famous Local Food and Stunning Ocean Views

청초수물회 속초 본점(Cheongchosu Mulhoe)

첫째 날, 속초에 도착하자마자 유명한 청초수물회 속초 본점에 갔어요. 이곳은 속초의 물회 3대 맛집 중 하나로, 리뷰 수도 다른 식당들보다 훨씬 많았어요. 티맵에 따르면 속초에서 가장 많은 사람들이 찾은 맛집이라고 하더라고요. 저희는 바다가 보이는 창가에 앉아 맛있는 식사를 즐겼어요. 

청초수물회 속초 본점(Cheongchosu Mulhoe)

✔ 주문한 메뉴

• 물회(19,000원): 신선한 회와 다양한 채소를 얼큰하고 시원한 육수에 함께 먹는 음식이에요. 외국인들에게 설명하자면, ‘해산물 샐러드에 차가운 국물이 더해진 한국 요리’라고 할 수 있을 것 같아요.

물회(Mulhoe)

• 보양 전복죽(16,000원): 우리 아기를 위해 주문했는데, 고소하고 부드러워 어른들도 맛있게 먹었어요. 큼직한 전복 덩어리가 아낌없이 들어있어서 만족도가 높았어요.

전복죽(Jeonbokjuk)

• 속초 오징어순대(14,000원): 오징어 안에 가득 찬 속재료를 보고 놀랐고, 맛도 정말 일품이었어요. 속초를 여행한다면 꼭 한번 맛봐야 할 별미랍니다.

배를 든든히 채운 후, 저희는 숙소인 롯데리조트 속초로 이동했어요. 이곳은 모든 객실에서 바다가 보이는 숙소라, 창밖을 보기만 해도 힐링이 되었어요. 숙소와 연결된 산책길을 따라 걸으며 겨울 바다를 더 가까이에서 즐겼답니다.

그날 저녁에는 속초 중앙시장을 둘러봤어요. 중앙시장은 속초의 다양한 먹거리들로 가득 찬 곳이에요. 해산물부터 간식, 전통 음식까지 정말 선택의 폭이 넓어요. 시장의 활기와 맛있는 냄새 덕분에 여행의 즐거움이 더해졌답니다.

속초 중앙시장(Sokcho Central Market)

As soon as we arrived in Sokcho, we headed straight to Cheongchosu Mulhoe, a famous restaurant known for its fresh seafood dishes. It’s one of the top three places to eat mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) in Sokcho with a lot of reviews. According to Tmap, it’s the most popular restaurant in town. We were lucky to get a window seat with a beautiful ocean view!

✔ Our order:

• Mulhoe (19,000 KRW): A refreshing and spicy cold seafood dish with fresh raw fish and vegetables in a chilled broth. You could describe it as a “Korean-style seafood salad with an icy, flavorful soup.”

• Jeonbokjuk (16,000 KRW): A creamy abalone porridge that was perfect for our toddler and delicious for adults too.

• Sokcho-style Squid Sundae (14,000 KRW): A must-try local dish, stuffed squid filled with a variety of tasty ingredients.

After a satisfying meal, we checked into Lotte Resort Sokcho. Every room has an ocean view, so just looking out the window felt like a healing experience. The resort also has a scenic walking path along the coastline, so we took a relaxing stroll to enjoy the fresh sea breeze.

That evening, we visited Sokcho Central Market, a lively marketplace full of delicious street food and fresh seafood. The smell of freshly grilled seafood filled the air, making our walk even more enjoyable.

둘째 날: 여유로운 카페 시간과 신나는 워터파크

Day 2: A Cozy Café and a Fun Time at the Water Park

보사노바 커피로스터스 속초점(Bossa Nova Coffee Roasters)

둘째 날은 조금 늦잠으로 시작했어요. 아침 식사는 전날 집에서 싸 온 떡으로 간단히 해결하고, 보사노바 커피로스터스 속초점으로 향했답니다. 이곳은 속초 해수욕장 근처에 위치한 유명한 카페로, 아름다운 바다 풍경을 감상할 수 있는 루프탑이 있어요. 

아메리카노&애플파이(Americano & Apple pie)

우리는 2층 창가에 앉아 아메리카노와 달콤한 애플파이를 즐기며 여유로운 아침을 만끽했어요. 창밖으로 보이는 소나무 숲과 속초아이가 어우러진 뷰가 참 인상적이었어요. 이곳은 음료 주문 시 음료 주문 시 차량 번호를 등록하면 주차가 무료라는 점도 편리했답니다.

울산바위(Ulsanbawi Rock)

카페에서 나와서는 소노델피노로 향해 울산바위를 감상했어요. 약간의 안개가 있었지만, 거대한 바위산의 모습은 감동적이었어요. 아기가 "산이 왜 이렇게 커요?"라며 놀라는 모습에 엄마, 아빠도 웃음이 끊이질 않았어요.

장터순대국(Jangteo Sundaeguk)

점심은 다시 속초 중앙시장에서 해결했어요. 장터순대국이라는 식당에서 소머리국밥과 순댓국을 먹었어요. 따뜻한 국물이 몸을 녹여줘서 정말 좋았어요. 장터순대국에서는 깍두기와 배추김치를 주는데 아빠는 살짝 단맛이 있는 깍두기를, 엄마는 매콤한 감칠맛이 살아 있는 배추김치에 반했답니다. 이곳의 또 다른 장점은 공깃밥 리필이 가능하다는 점이에요! 맛도 양도 모두 만족스러웠던 한 끼였어요.

장터순대국(Jangteo Sundaeguk)

그리고 드디어 아기가 가장 기다리던 시간! 우리는 롯데리조트 워터파크로 향했어요. 겨울이라 실외 시설은 이용할 수 없었지만, 실내 워터파크만으로도 충분히 재미있었어요. 처음엔 낯선 환경에 적응하지 못해 망설이던 아기도, 아빠가 미끄럼틀을 타며 용기를 주자 이내 신나서 두 시간 내내 미끄럼틀만 반복해서 타며 놀았어요. 엄마, 아빠는 체력이 방전되었지만, 아기는 웃음소리로 워터파크를 가득 채웠어요.

We had a slow and relaxing morning on our second day. Breakfast was simple—some rice cakes we brought from home. Then, we headed to Bossa Nova Coffee Roasters, a café near Sokcho Beach that’s famous for its stunning ocean views from the rooftop.

We enjoyed a peaceful morning on the second floor, sipping Americanos and munching on sweet apple pie. The view of the pine trees and Sokcho Eye against the ocean was absolutely beautiful. A nice bonus: if you register your car number when ordering, you get free parking!

After coffee, we drove to Sono Delpino to see the majestic Ulsanbawi Rock. Even though there was a bit of fog, the massive rock formations were still breathtaking. Our toddler was amazed, asking, “Why is the mountain so big?!” We all had a good laugh.

For lunch, we went back to Sokcho Central Market and had a warm and hearty meal at Jangteo Sundaeguk. We ordered Sundaeguk and Someori Gukbap. Both were perfect for the cold weather, and the warm broth was incredibly comforting. The restaurant also serves delicious kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and baechu kimchi (napa cabbage kimchi). My husband loved the slightly sweet kkakdugi, while I preferred the spicy and flavorful baechu kimchi. Another great thing about this place? Free rice refills!

Then came the part our toddler had been looking forward to the most—Lotte Resort Water Park! Since it was winter, the outdoor facilities were closed, but the indoor area was warm and full of fun attractions. At first, our toddler hesitated to play, but after seeing dad go down the slide, they gained confidence and had a blast! For two hours straight, it was non-stop sliding and splashing. Mom and dad were exhausted, but our little one’s laughter filled the entire water park.

셋째 날: 여유로운 산책과 속초 여행의 마무리

Day 3: A Leisurely Stroll and Wrapping Up Our Trip

여행 마지막 날, 저희는 리조트에서 여유롭게 아침을 먹고 산책을 했어요. 조트에서 연결된 산책길을 따라 외옹치해수욕장까지 걸었어요. 겨울 바다의 조용한 분위기를 느끼며 산책하니 정말 좋았어요.

점심은 속초의 유명 맛집 섭죽마을에서 먹었어요. 참홍합으로 만든 고소한 섭죽과 얼큰한 섭국은 속초를 대표하는 음식 중 하나로, 아기와 어른 모두 만족스러운 식사를 할 수 있었어요.

On our last day, we had a relaxing breakfast at the resort before taking one final walk along the scenic coastal path to Oeongchi Beach. The peaceful winter ocean was the perfect way to wrap up our trip.

For our last meal in Sokcho, we visited a well-known restaurant called Seopjuk Maeul, famous for its seopjuk (mussel porridge) and seopguk (spicy mussel soup). The mild seopjuk and spicy seopguk were satisfying for both our toddler and us and perfect for warming us up before heading home.

아기와 함께한 가족만의 여유로운 여행

A Special Family Trip with a Toddler

이번 여행에서는 많은 곳을 방문하지는 않았지만, 우리 가족만의 속도로 여유롭게 여행을 즐길 수 있어서 더 의미 있었어요. 속초에는 저희가 다녀온 곳들 외에도 설악산, 대포항, 속초해수욕장, 비룡폭포 같은 명소와 신선한 해산물 등 볼거리와 먹거리가 풍부한 도시예요. 가족과 함께라면 속초는 특별한 추억을 선물해 줄 완벽한 여행지가 될 거예요.

This trip wasn’t about rushing to see every tourist attraction or trying every dish in Sokcho. Instead, we took our time, moved at our own pace, and truly enjoyed every moment. Sokcho has so many more amazing places to visit, like Seoraksan National Park, Daepo Port, Sokcho Beach, and Biryong Falls. If you love fresh seafood, beautiful scenery, and a relaxed travel experience, Sokcho is a fantastic destination for families!
