한국 여행 중에 제일 자주 가게 되는 곳, 바로 식당이죠!

하지만 메뉴가 한글로만 쓰여 있고, 직원분께 어떻게 말해야 할지 모를 땐 당황스럽기도 해요.

그래서 오늘은, 한국 식당에서 바로 쓸 수 있는 필수 표현 10가지를 소개할게요.

이 표현만 알면 주문, 추천 요청, 포장, 계산까지 편하게 말할 수 있어요. 

한국 문화를 처음 접하는 초보 학습자분들도 쉽게 따라할 수 있도록 문화 팁도 함께 넣어두었어요.

When you travel in Korea, the place you’ll visit most often is definitely a restaurant.

But it can be a little overwhelming when the menu is written only in Korean or when you’re not sure what to say to the staff.

So today, I’m going to share 10 essential Korean phrases you can use right away at restaurants.

With these expressions, you’ll be able to order food, ask for recommendations, request take-out, and pay comfortably.

I’ve also added simple cultural tips so beginner learners experiencing Korean culture for the first time can follow along easily.

🥢 1. “이거 주세요. (I-geo ju-se-yo)”

👉 Please give me this.


📌 메뉴를 가리키면서 말하면 끝! Just point to the menu and say this!


🎙️ "불고기 하나 주세요. (bul-go-gi ha-na ju-se-yo)" = "One Bulgogi, please."


🎙️ "이거 주세요. (I-geo ju-se-yo)" = "This one, please."


🥤 2. “물 좀 주세요. (Mul jom ju-se-yo)”

👉 Can I get some water, please?


📌 대부분 식당은 무료 정수물을 줘요! Most restaurants in Korea serve free water.


🎙️ "죄송하지만, 물 좀 주세요. (joe-song-ha-ji-man, mul jom ju-se-yo)" = "Water, please!"

🍱 3. “포장해주세요. (Po-jang hae-ju-se-yo)”

👉 Please pack this to go.


📌 남은 음식을 싸가고 싶을 때도, 처음부터 테이크아웃하고 싶을 때도! Great for takeout or leftovers!


🎙️ "이거 포장해 주세요. (i-geo po-jang-hae ju-se-yo)" = "Please pack this."


🎙️ "포장 돼요? (po-jang dwae-yo?)"= "Do you do takeout?"

🌶️ 4. “안 맵게 해주세요. (An maep-ge hae-ju-se-yo)” / “맵게 해주세요. (Maep-ge hae-ju-se-yo)”

📌 한국 음식은 기본이 매워요! Most Korean dishes are spicy!

🍚 5. “밥 하나 더 주세요. (Bap hana deo ju-se-yo)”

👉 One more rice, please.


📌 공기밥 추가할 때 쓰면 딱!  If you need more rice!


🎙️ "밥 하나 더 주세요. (bap ha-na deo ju-se-yo)" = "One more bowl of rice, please."


🎙️ "공기밥 추가요. (gong-gi-bap chu-ga-yo)" = "Extra rice, please."

🍳 6. “반찬 좀 더 주세요. (Ban-chan jom deo ju-se-yo)”

📌 한국 식당은 반찬 리필이 무료인 경우가 많아요! Side dishes (banchan) are usually free and refillable!

🎙️ "김치 좀 더 주세요. (gim-chi jom deo ju-se-yo)" = "More kimchi, please."


🎙️ "반찬 더 주세요. (ban-chan deo ju-se-yo)" = "More side dishes, please."

🪑 7. “두 명이요.(du myeong-i-yo)” / “세 명이요. (se myeong-i-yo)”

👉 Two people / Three people.


📌 👋 한국 식당에 들어갈 때는, 인원수를 먼저 말하면 자리를 안내해 줘요.

예를 들어,

“두 명이요”

“세 명이요”

이렇게 말하면 돼요.

그런데 한국어가 아직 어렵다면 걱정하지 마세요!

손가락으로 숫자를 보여주기만 해도 직원분들이 알아서 자리로 안내해 줘요. 😊

대부분 식당에서는 이렇게 먼저 물어보거든요:

“몇 분이세요?”

그러니까, 숫자만 준비해도 OK!

말이 통하지 않아도 괜찮아요.

한국 사람들은 여행자들에게 꽤 친절하답니다 💛

When you walk into a Korean restaurant, the staff usually asks:

“몇 분이세요?” [myeot buni-se-yo?]

That means: “How many people?”

To answer, just say the number of people in your group:

  • 두 명이요 [du myeong-i-yo] → “Two people”

  • 세 명이요 [se myeong-i-yo] → “Three people”

💡 Tip:

If you don’t feel confident speaking Korean yet, don’t worry!

Just show the number with your fingers — most restaurant staff will understand right away and show you to a table. 😊

Even if you can’t speak Korean, that’s totally okay!

🎙️ (직원이 물어요.) "몇 분이세요?(myeot buni-se-yo?)" = (Staff) "How many people?"


🎙️ (대답해요.) "두 명이요." / "혼자예요.(du myeong-i-yo / hon-ja-ye-yo)"  = (You) "Two people." / "Just me."

📜 8. “이거 뭐예요?(I-geo mwo-ye-yo?)”

👉 What is this?


📌 모르는 음식이 많을 때 딱 좋은 표현! Curious about something on the menu? Ask this!


🎙️ "이거 뭐예요?(I-geo mwo-ye-yo?)" = "What is this?"


🎙️ "이 음식 매워요?(i eum-sik mae-wo-yo?)" = "Is this spicy?"

🕰️ 9. “얼마나 걸려요?(Eol-ma-na geol-lyeo-yo?)”

👉 How long does it take?


📌 바쁠 때는 음식이 얼마나 걸리는지 물어보면 좋아요. Great for when you’re in a hurry.


🎙️ "이거 얼마나 걸려요?(i-geo eol-ma-na geol-ryeo-yo?)" = "How long does this take?"

💳 10. “카드 돼요?(Ka-deu dwae-yo?)”

👉 Can I pay with a card?


📌 한국은 대부분 카드 결제가 가능하지만, 노점상이나 시장 같은 곳에서는 가끔 현금만 받는 곳도 있어요. In Korea, most places accept card payments, but some street vendors or traditional markets may only take cash.

🎙️ "카드 돼요?(Ka-deu dwae-yo?)" = "Do you take card?"


🎙️ "현금만 돼요?(hyeon-geum-man dwae-yo?)" = "Cash only?"

  • 물, 반찬은 대부분 셀프 서비스 or 무료 리필 가능!  (Water and side dishes are usually free and self-serve in many places.)

  • 주문은 직원을 부르지 않으면 안 오는 경우도 있어요. (Sometimes, staff won’t come unless you call them.)

    👉 “저기요~” 하고 부르면 됩니다! (Say “저기요~!(jeo-gi-yo)” (“Excuse me!”) to get their attention.)

  • 작은 식당에서는 영어 메뉴판이 없는 곳도 많아요. (Some smaller places may not have English menus.)

    👉 이럴 때는 사진 메뉴나 손가락 가리키기 + ‘이거 주세요’ 전략! (No worries! Just point and say “Please give me this. (I-geo ju-se-yo)”)
