며칠 전, 가족과 함께 2박 3일 여행을 다녀왔어요.

여행지로는 강원도 고성을 선택했어요.

A few days ago, my family and I went on a short 3-day trip.

We visited Goseong, a town in Gangwon Province.

왜 고성일까요?

바로 오늘, 6월 25일은 6.25 전쟁이 시작된 날이기 때문이에요.

올해는 6.25 전쟁 75주년이 되는 해예요.

Why Goseong?

Because June 25 is the day the Korean War began.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of that war.

이 전쟁으로 수많은 가족이 헤어졌고,

한국은 남한과 북한으로 나뉘게 되었어요.

그리고 지금도 전쟁이 끝나지 않은 ‘휴전 상태’가 계속되고 있어요.

The war separated countless families,

and it left South and North Korea divided.

Even today, Korea is still in a ceasefire — not peace.

🕊️ 통일전망대에서 딸에게 전한 말(A Message to My Daughter at the Border)

여행 둘째 날, 저는 두 살 된 딸과 함께 고성 통일전망대에 갔어요.

북한 땅이 보이는 곳이에요.

On the second day of our trip,

I took my two-year-old daughter to the Unification Observatory in Goseong.

From there, you can actually see North Korea.

아직 어린 딸에게 저는 이렇게 말했어요.

I gently told her:

"여기가 남한, 저기가 북한이야."

“This is South Korea, and that’s North Korea.”

"전쟁 때문에 나라가 나뉘었어."

"Our country was divided because of war."

물론 딸은 아직 어려서 이 말의 의미를 잘 모를 거예요.

하지만 저는 말하고 싶었어요.

Of course, she’s too young to understand,

but I wanted to say it anyway.

전쟁은 다시 일어나면 안돼요.

우리 아이가 살아갈 세상은 평화롭기를 바랍니다. 

War must never happen again. 

And I hope my child grows up in a world filled with peace. 

💜 보라색 꽃밭에서 피어난 희망(In the Lavender Fields, A Quiet Kind of Hope)

그날 오후에는 라벤더 농장에도 들렀어요.

딸은 보라색 꽃밭 사이를 뛰어다니며 무척 행복해했어요.

그 모습을 바라보며, 저도 마음 깊이 조용한 희망을 느꼈답니다.

Later that day, we visited a lavender farm.

My daughter ran through the purple fields, laughing with joy.

As I watched her, I felt something soft and powerful in my heart —

a quiet kind of hope.

A trip on the anniversary of war, a memory made with family, and a wish for peace.

저에게는 너무나 소중한 시간이었어요. 

It became something truly precious to me.
